Hewat, Sellen Walmsley, Batterham. Main 'business of the meeting was the discussion of ar - rangements for the Church of England flower show which is to be held next Saturday The joint secretaries, Mesdames Sellen and Walmsley reported that general arrange - ments were well in hand. Judges were appointed and stewards and stallholders have their work in hand. Mr. D. S. Lloyd, of "Yoi," is presenting a handsome silver cup for the champion fleece in the wool section. This will be competed for each year and retained on being won two years in succession or three years in all. It will' be known as the Lloyd Cup. It is hoped that there will be a good number of entries in this sec - tion which is always popular with wool men of the district. The trophy for the champion rose this yeai\ will be a rose bowl, which is to he purchased from flower show funds The secretaries are expect - ing a large number of entries, particularly in the flower and vegetable sections, as the season has been so good. The cookery section is al ways popular and this year a needlework section has been ! added, which is also expected to be well filled. Schedules may be obtained from the vicarage. The flower show will be offi - cially opened at 3 p.m by Cr. P. B. Finn, president of Mcintyre Shire. The doors will open at 2 p.m. and afternoon tea will be served by ladies of the Women's Guild. A dance is to be held at night, featuring the popular Woolfe's orchestra. Messrs. Rex Clifford and Bruce Rogerson, of 2NZ staff will compere the show, which should pro- 1 vide both dancers and nondancers with a grand evening's fun. |
