NSW Red Cross Record July 1915 MOSS VALE. The work of the above Branch is very satisfactory. It has gone on steadily since our inception, and new members are constantly coming forward. Since the beginning of April 650 garments have been despatched to the Town Hall Basement. These included towels and pillow-cases in response to a special appeal, and a large number of sheets for Australian wounded in Egypt. We have also given £5 for the Red Cross new Base. Hospital, and a donation of £5 ss. to Flower Day, in addition to several boxes of flowers and holly. Jam is still coming in steadily every week, and a further 14 cwt. has been forwarded to the Produce Department. Several cases of second-hand clothing have been forwarded to Farmer’s bulk stores, and cases of books and magazines to various camps. We have also eight new subscribers to the ‘‘Red Cross Record.” Our funds have been much helped by the Committee of the Sports Demonstration on Empire Day, deciding to allocate half of the takings to the Red Cross, and at their suggestion the catering both for luncheon and afternoon tea was undertaken by the Society, and brought in a very substantial sum. MARY LLOYD, Hon. Sec Mary Lloyd took 3 children to Hobart for Christmas in 1914 with her mother (Griifith and Thea absent) 20th December 1914, Sunday………In evening Emma went to meet Mary Lloyd and her children, Rachel, David and Howard – all looking very well and we are very pleased to have them – "Mary Roberts Diary" |
